Letters, Swaps, and Postcrossing: Outgoing Mail

Yesterday, I busied myself with the task of completing swaps, writing letters and postcards.

One of these envelopes is for a notecard swap and the other one contains a postcard and some extras for the Adventures of the Traveling Postcard swap.
A pen pal letter to Jackie.
A pen pal letter headed to John.
A Postcrossing headed to Pennsylvania.
I write: Hi Jessica, I'm writing to you from my home in Las Vegas, NV. I love to read anything about the occult, metaphysical and paranormal. However, one of my favorite books has nothing to do with any of these subjects. It's called, The Instant Millionaire-A Tale of Wisdom & Wealth. It's a cute story with real life lesson. I try to read it at least once a year. :) Wishing you much happiness. <3 JarieLyn
This is a Postcrossing on the way to Taiwan.
I write: Dear Zoe, I could eat Mexican food everyday, but that would be very bad because I'd probably gain 200 lbs. My favorite Mexican food is a chile relleno. It's a mild chile pepper stuffed with cheese and fried wit an egg batter coating and then topped off with a mild sauce that can be varied in how it's cooked and how it tastes. I'm wondering if you have ever had Mexican food in your country. Wishing you much laughter. <3 JarieLyn

Incoming Postcards and a Letter

Hello out there. Who? You! I went to bed fairly early last night and yet I woke up very late. I'm off to a rough start this morning but yesterday's mail was a smile maker.  First, a pen pal letter I received.

From my pal Margie.
This Postcrossing comes from Ukraine.
The sender writes: Spring- a time of love, a new life, the most beautiful flowers. You-JARIELYN R. embody the most wonderful quality of spring: sunny smile, unpredictable spring thunderstorm, tenderness and freshness of the first leaves. Happy spring! greetings from Ukraine. Sveta.
Aren't those words the most thoughtful you've ever read on a postcard?  If that doesn't make you smile I don't know what will. It sure made my day. :)
My guardian angel I mean, a postcrossing from the Netherlands.
The sender writes: Translation text of the front: May the angel of consolation give you power when you are hurt by the loss. (author: Marinus van den Berg)  Dear JarieLyn, I have found a card with an angel for you! I am a writer of children books and a painter as well. I've also made a painting of an angel. You can see it.   Best wishes! Meike
I looked at her website and her paintings are very colorful and nice. They kind of have a whimsical feel to them. I like them a lot and wouldn't mind hanging one in my house to remind me to play.
A Postcrossing from Finland.
The sender doesn't speak English so she only signed her name, Elsa.
A Postcrossing from the Netherlands.
The sender writes: Hi. Famous Dutch illustration with snow! We had none this winter so far- so I guess we ? have to do it. Greetings from Amsterdam. Happy Postcrossing.
I love the scene depicted in the above card. It makes me think of an old black and white movie.
A Postcrossing from Isle of Man.
The sender writes: Hello JarieLyn- Snail Mail card for you from Isle of Man. Since you live in the desert, I thought I'd send you a card that deals with water! All the best to you, Patrick.
This card does look refreshing. And I never knew there was a country called Isle of Man. I love Postcrossing.  The people I get to meet and the little things they share are really special.

A Monster of a Postcard and More

Happy St. Patrick's Day my lovely friends. Today is my brother's birthday. He doesn't live in the same town or the same state as I do so I will give him a call and wish him a fabulous day.  Who's going to be drinking green beer or some other wild concoction that is greenish in color?  At the very least, make sure you wear green so you don't get pinched. :)

Today's post is all about incoming postcards that I have received over the last week or so.  First, is a postcard that my pal Lynn sent to me. It made me laugh and it made my day.  Thanks Lynn.

I love this card, don't you?
A Postcrossing from Great Britain.
The sender writes: Hello! Hope you like this postcard of a dog! I think he was watching his owner walk away because of the sad look in his eyes. :(  There is a room in our house that my newphew won't enter (he's only 1). We think it's because there's a ghost in there that we can't see. Children are supposed to have an ability to see the paranormal, but lose it as they age. Creepy! Lots of love from Kate in Lincoln, England.
Cute card and interesting note.
A Postcrossing from Russia.
The sender writes: Hello! On the card shows the ancient Greco-Scy thiah settlement of Kara Tobe and the little castle is strengthening of the second world war, now there is a museum. It is Crimea, Southern Ukraine.  (I'm not sure if I wrote the right words up above)
A Postcrossing from Germany.
The sender writes: Hey, my name is Leonie and I'm from Germany. I love the USA, because I went there last year to live with a host family and to go to school and it was absolutely wonderful! I stayed in Utah and I saw so many awesome things. So, I hope you're having an AMAZING day! Best wishes, Leoni.
A Postccrossing from Hong Kong.
The sender writes: Hello, I am Woody from Hong Kong :) nice to meet you. Woody like flower, rabbit.
(she drew a flower and a rabbit.)
Have a wonderful day everyone and stay mellow and be safe.

3 Postcards and a Letter: Outgoing

A Postcrossing on the way to Belarus.
I write: Hello from Las Vegas, Nevada. We have the world's largest neon sign, an enormous cowboy that towers over Fremont Street. The sign is known as Vegas Vic. It's pretty awesome. Wishing you good grades and happy days. <3 JarieLyn
A Postcrossing on the way to Ukraine.
I write: Hello Alexandra, it's a beautiful day where I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and magic is happening every moment. The one thing I've learned in my 49 years is that you're never too old to believe in magic. The imagination creates it all the time. Believe!! <3 JarieLyn
A Postcrossing going to the United Kingdom.
I write: Dear Lizzy, Las Vegas is where I make my home with my husband. One thing you can always count on in this town is that many places never close at night. There is always something to do no matter what time it is. Have a great life. <3 JarieLyn
A pen pal letter: part 2. You know who you are! :)

Outgoing Mail

A Postcrossing on the way to Russia.
I write: Hello Dmitry, I see on your profile that you have a birthday coming up. I wish you much laughter on your special day and many blessings to come your way. Smile, and you will light your path. Enjoy your life's journey. Be true to yourself always. Have a beautiful Day. <3 JarieLyn

A letter to one of my pals. This is part 1 of 2.
I hope you all are having a great day so far.  I'll be writing a couple of more letters today, doing laundry, and getting my home office more organized.  How many times have I said that this year?  I would snap a photo to show you my desk but I am much too ashamed at the clutter. It's overwhelming.
Carpe Diem!

I'm an extraordinary penpal

I received my free stationery from LEP for extending my membership another year.
I received two slightly different writing papers, matching envelopes, and some postcards. I love the envelopes. I wonder who will receive a letter by me on this stationery?  Even I, do not know.
A Postcrossing from Latvia.
The sender writes:  Hello! greetings from Latvia! I hope you'll like this little doggy! He is way too cute. :) Happy Postcrossing! Gune.
A Postcrossing from China.
The sender writes:  Hi! I am Patricia. Yesterday was Valentine's Day and I had a wonderful sleep. Just now I received my first digital camera that I bought yesterday. It took a long time to make this decision. I am going to walk in the park and take some photos of this amazing city. Live is wonderful, isn't it? Have a nice day!
This is a Postcrossing from Great Britain.
The sender writes: Dear JarieLyn, greetings from England! My name is Heather and I am 13 years old. On your profile it says you like colourful cards and beaches so I thought this might suit. My hobbies include rock climbing, art, drama and climbing trees with my friend . (though we always get stuck!) Las Vegas seems an amazing place to live! Though I've never been. Maybe I will visit one day. Love Heather. x
This card I have received once before from my pal John who lives in the UK. Now I have 2.
I received more notecards from a notecard swap. These are a nice variety.
That's it for today. Make it a good one in your neck of the woods.

All About Me.... ABC Journal

Hello friends!  It's been one of those days. You know, one of those days where you can't seem to get rid of your frustration. Actually, I feel irritated more than anything, but there's no need to go into detail. Aside from my irritation, I'm actually in a pretty good mood. So, let's get on with the mail, shall we?  First up is a peak at the ABC Journal that I made for a swap. We were instructed to create a journal and write the letter at the top, ABCD, etc. Then we had to write a word that we think describes our personality using each letter of the alphabet along with a sentence and a photo that showcased why.  Anyway, the most difficult thing about this challenge was narrowing each letter down to only one adjective.

Starting with the letter A, I chose the word ample.  The drawing to the left is something that I've been drawing for about 20 years.  It's varied slightly over the years, but I always feel like I am drawing my soul. The fire represents the passion and desires within me, the heart represents the love, and the half of a face is the public persona whereas, the missing side represents my deep private thoughts.  That is my interpretation currently. It could change with time.
Self explanatory!
Can you believe I made a mistake on the amount of years. It should read, 20 years because that's how long we will be married on our next anniversary in November.

I'm not shy, however, I am quiet and reserved a lot of the time.
We are all Worthy!
Lazy at home.
A Postcrossing from Ukraine.
The sender writes: Hello, JarieLyn! My name's Valentina I and my family live in small town in Ukraine, Kiev region. I'm 33. My favorite hobby is Postcrossing. I hope you like my card and stamps. Best wishes from Ukraine. Happy Postcrossing! Valentina.
I love the little splash of color on the umbrella.. It makes the image pop.
A Postcrossing from Germany.
The sender writes: Dear JarieLyn, my name is Dana, I am 17 and from a small town called Ahlen in Germany. Here's a recipe of my favorite dessert. You'll need:  500 g plain yogurt, 120 g sugar, 1 tbsp. vanilla sugar, 400 g whipping cream, a bit of lemon juice, 500 g berries (frozen). The trick is to prepare it one day before. Mix the yogurt, sugar, vanilla sugar and add a bit of lemon juice. Then whip the cream and fold it in. Now, you take a clean dishcloth and cover the inside of a colander with it. Put the colander in a bigger bowl and fill it with the yogurt mass. (have a look at my beautiful drawing so you an understand it better.) Leave it at a cool place over night. The  next day, you turn it out, put the pureed berries all around it and enjoy. Love Dana.
This is a resend of a pen pal letter that came back to me. I have no idea why it came back. I had enough postage, the address was correct and so was the zip code. I just stuck it in a new envelope and my fingers are crossed that it reaches its destination in Georgia.
This train is headed to Michigan. It's a Postcrossing.
I write: Hi Pattie, I live in Las VEgas, NV with my husband. Boulder city is a quaint little town hwere gambling is not allowed. (just a short drive from LV) There are lots of little outdoor cafes. I love to come here and have a glass of wine and watch the passersby. It's very relaxing. Have a wonderful day.

Saturday, March 1, 2014

I can't believe that the week-end is half over already. I'm a little behind on posting mail but I'm still sending and receiving oodles of it.  I probably won't post everything that's come in and gone out, but I will post most of it.
First some Postcrossings that I sent.
This one is traveling to Germany.
I write: Greetings from sunny Las Vegas! The weather is perfect to start riding my bike again. Life is beautiful even when some circumstances are ugly. Embrace each moment and peer beyond the surface to see the magic that it holds. Wishing you all the best. <3 JarieLyn.
This one is headed to Taiwan.
I write: Hello Lucas, the world famous Hoover Dam used to be called Boulder Dam. I prefer the latter. Anyway, it's just past noon here and I'm already thinking about what to make for dinner. Last night I made beef stroganoff and it was pretty good. My husband really like it. :) Have a wonderful day and a happy life! <3 JarieLyn
This one is traveling to Belgium.
I write: Hello Raquel, it rained earlier today in Las Vegas but it didn't last long. The sun came out from behind the clouds and cast its rays across the valley. It's nice to be in a warm climate and I am grateful that I do not have to shovel snow. I hope you are doing well. Much happiness to you from me. <3 JarieLyn
This one is on the way to Lithuania.
I write: Dear V, greetings from Las Vegas. Every time I mail a postcard I feel like I'm sending love out into the world. That's why I like Postcrossing so much. It's my way of smiling at a stranger to whom I've never laid eyes upon. It's a great feeling. With this card, I send to you good vibes and lots of well wishes for a happy and healthy life. <3 JarieLyn
This is a postcard swap which are inside the envelope.
I have received lots of good mail over the past week or so.
A package from my pal Lynn.  She always writes the most awesome letters.  Also, she sent me a really nice gift that is so very thoughtful and I will cherish very much.  Sorry, no picture.
A card from Randall, who enclosed a little something extra. It was very thoughtful of him.
From my pal Rachel. She also enclosed something that she thought I might be interested in.
All of the above letters and notes came from kind hearts. I felt very lucky all week long for the amazing thoughtfulness that came my way.  Thanks to all of you for sharing your generosity with me.
A Postcrossing from Hong Kong. I really like it a lot.
The sender writes: Hello Jarie! Many greetings from Hong Kong! :) My name is Vivian. I like photography and travelling too. And summer is also my favourite season. Although it's really hot in HK but I love the symbols of summer, like gold fish, watermelon, hydrangea, snow ice (dessert), fireworks etc. It's way like more in Japanese style and I planned to visit Tokyo in the coming summer :) Wish you all the best! Vivian.
A Postcrossing from Taiwan.
The sender writes: Hello, JarieLyn. Greetings from Taiwan :) My name is Quak! The back of the card is Mt. Ali. During Chinese New Year, it's filled with people, ha ha! Lots of family plan a trip there. (Because there's a cherry blossom) BTW I live in Kaohisung, we have 85 sky tower! I usually go to Siziwan to have a cup of coffee. I really enjoy that wonderful moment. Hou you can visit there one day! Best wishes :) from Quak.
This is a Postcrossing from the Netherlands.
It's not a postcard, it's an actual photograph that they sent in the mail.
The sender writes: Hallo JarieLyn, (the rest of it is in another language).
This is from a swapper for a notecard swap I joined on Swap-Bot.
From another swapper for a notecard swap.
A letter and some postcards from my pal John. Yep, I was the recipient of lots of extras this week. :)
So, I have more mail to post but I think I'll save it for another day. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
